A 13-year-old Manning Junior High School student who allegedly brought a pellet gun to school on Monday has been charged with possession of a gun on school grounds and assault on a public official, according to reports from the Clarendon County Sheriff's Office. Clarendon School District 2 Superintendent John Tindal said the student will not be allowed back on campus until a hearing is conducted before the school board, whose members will make a final decision in the student's case afterward. Tindal said the school has a zero tolerance policy regarding weapons because it receives funding from the federal government. "We are mandated to expel students for bringing firearms to school," Tindal said.
