Richard Elbert Brewer, 69, died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, at his home.

Born Sept. 1, 1944, in Manning, he was a son of the late James Vanolin Brewer and Janie Louise Tobias Brewer. He was a graduate of Manning High School and Columbia Commercial College. He was the parts manager for Clarendon Auto Parts for 30 years, and he was a member of Jordan United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two brothers, Welborn A. Brewer (Carolyn) of Manning and J. Wayne Brewer (Pam) of Columbia; three sisters, Erline B. Gamble and Louise B. Thompson, both of Manning, and Janet B. Johnson (Walt) of Lexington; a sister-in-law, Barbara G. Brewer of Manning; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, James Vanolin Brewer Jr.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Carl Ritter officiating. Burial will follow in Clarendon Memorial Gardens.

Carl Gamble, Wes Thompson, David Thompson, Kerry Brewer, Dr. Brian Johnson and Billy Nelson will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home, 1245 Cherokee Drive, Manning.

The family would like to thank his caregiver, Sylvia Amerson.
