ALCOLU — Marion Elliott Dantzler, 71, husband of Elaine Blackwell Dantzler, died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014, at his home in Alcolu.

Born March 16, 1942, in Lone Star, he was a son of the late James Dantzler and Rutha Mae McFadden Dantzler Davis, and the stepson of Ernest Davis.

He was a member of Harmony Elizabeth Presbyterian Church in Alcolu. He attended Clarendon County public schools and was an employee of Georgia Pacific of Alcolu for many years.

Survivors besides his wife of the home, 1598 Magnolia Corner Road in Alcolu, include five daughters, Teresa Blackwell, Patricia (David) Wigfall, Stephanie (Detrich) Epps, Connie Dantzler and LaTosha (Darrick) Simon; three sons, Renwick Holliday, Darrell (Tammie) Dantzler and Marion G. Dantzler; a sister, Angela Dantzler Fredrick; 25 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.

Celebratory services were held Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, at Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church, 10331 Plowden Mill Road in Alcolu, with the Rev. Hazel Charles, pastor, presiding and the Rev. Otis Blackwell as eulogist. Burial followed in Harmony Elizabeth Presbyterian Church cemetery in Alcolu.

The family is receiving friends at the home.
