SUMMERTON – Sherman Cecil Hyatt, 80, husband of Jean E. Hyatt, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital in Manning.

 

Born March 2, 1933, in Cambrake, W.Va., he was a son of the late Roy G. Hyatt and Rexie M. Gilbert Hyatt. He moved to Michigan and retired from American Motors, eventually moving to South Carolina, where he enjoyed the warm weather, riding his motorcycle and fishing.

 

He was proud to have been a master of Builders Lodge No. 563 in Dearborn, Mich., and a member of St. Peters Masonic Lodge in Manning.

 

Survivors besides his wife of Summerton include a son, Daniel A. (Judy) Hyatt; a stepdaughter, Rebecca A. (Jerry) Hogg; a stepson, Richard G. Hutting; two granddaughters, Heather N. (Frank) Asher and Courtney N. Hogg; a grandson, Steven D. Hogg; a brother-in-law, Thomas Lefler (Teresa); a sister-in-law, Carol (David) McCoy; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

 

He was preceded in death by both parents and a grandson, Nicholas S. Hyatt.

 

A memorial service will be held at a later date with inurnment at Glen Eden Memorial Park in Livonia, Mich.
