TURBEVILLE - The Rev. William Claudie Osborn, husband of H. Alene Osborne, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014.

Born Feb. 27, 1927, in Turbeville, he was a son of the late W.H. “Buddy” and Clarica Dennis Osborne. He was a graduate of Turbeville High School and attended Bob Jones College, now Bob Jones University, in Greenville. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Panama.

He served as the assistant superintendent of the Freewill Baptist Conference Pentecostal Faith under four different superintendents, and also as missions director and secretary.

He pastored churches in North and South Carolina, and retired from Waters Powell Funeral Home in Florence in 1992.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Powers Osborne; a son, Richard (Rich) Osborn; and five siblings, Lois Osborn, Thomas Joel Osborn, Charlie Osborn, Linnie Jane (Totsie) Bryant and Ivan Dennis Osborn.

Survivors besides his wife of the home include a daughter, Anne (Herbert) Gardner of Florence; four grandchildren, Brad (Elisa) Gardner, Jennifer Gardner of Florence, Victoria, Connor Osborne, and their mother, Marianne of Portsmouth, Ohio; three great-grandchildren, Brittaney and Dylan Truslow and Gavin Gardner, all of Florence; two step-children, Greg (Lisa) Davis of Delco, N.C., Teresa (Burl) Godwin of Florence and their families; five siblings, Daisy Bell Polson, Nancy Carraway, Hugh Osborne and Addison Leroy Osborne, all of Sumter, and Elsie Speer of Greenwood; and two special people, Jeanette Frierson of Olanta and Cheryl McKenzie of Rock Hill.

The family would like to thank Dr. Lane Wilner and his staff for the excellent care for many years given to the Rev. Osborne.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, with visitation at 1 p.m., at Dennis Memorial Auditorium Freewill Baptist PF Campground, Pudding Swamp Road in Turbeville. Burial will follow at Olive Grove Church cemetery in Turbeville.
