Ethel Plowden Sinkler

Ethel Plowden Sinkler, widow of James Sinkler Sr., died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital in Manning.

Born Dec. 16, 1945, in Manning, she was a daughter of the late Warren Plowden Sr. and Lula Johnson Plowden.

Survivors include a son, James Sinkler Jr. of Manning; a daughter, Kim Sinkler of Sumter; two grandchildren, Tykez and Semaj of Sumter; a brother, Warren (Wilhenenia) Plowden; and two sisters, Martha Bines and Evangelist Cassie (Edward) Gibson, both of Manning.

She was preceded in death by a son; three brothers, Eugene, David and James; and three sisters, Dorothy Lowe, Annie Reddick and Janie Bell Gibson.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at St. John Baptist Church on Brewer Road in Manning. Words of consolation were brought by the Rev. David Pugh, pastor. He was assisted by the Rev. Ranzy McFadden, the Rev. Ruth Pugh, Minister Roberta Pendergrass and the Rev. Terry Johnson.

Burial followed in the family plot at St. Matthews Cemetery.
