Two Manning men are in custody after a 23-year-old man was shot and killed late Sunday night, according to the Clarendon County Sheriff's Office.

Clarendon County Coroner Hayes Samuels said Monday that Maurice Jeffery Conyers, 23, of 1998 Paddock Road in Manning, died of an apparent gunshot wound to the head.

"He will be going for a post-mortem examination in Charleston at 9 a.m. Tuesday," Samuels said. "It looks like a gunshot wound to the head will be the cause, but we will know for sure tomorrow."

Conyers was found in the front yard of a home in the 1200 block of High Hills Lane about 10:06 p.m. Sunday with "a large crowd of people around," according to reports.

Joseph Tindal, 38, of 1156 High Hills Lane, and Eddie Lee Hilton, 40, of 1122 High Hills Lane, are being detained pending warrants, according to Maj. Kipp Coker.
