Isaac "Cooch" Bowman, widower of Inez Bowman, died Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital in Manning.

 

Born Sept. 5, 1924, in Clarendon County, he was a son of the late Siffa and Sarah Bowman. “Cooch” was a faithful member of Oaks AME Church, where he served on the Stewardess Board and with the Gospel Train.

 

Survivors include a loving daughter, Mary (James) Gillens of Eutawville; three caring grandchildren, Kayla Gillens of Greensboro, N.C., Courtney Gillens of Hollywood, Fla., and April Gillens of Clemson; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

Wake services were held Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at Historic Liberty Hill AME Church.

 

Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at Historic Liberty Hill AME Church with the Rev. Dr. Leslie J. Lovett, pastor, and the Rev. Dr. Raye T. Nelson officiating. Interment followed at Butler Cemetery.
