Montessori supporters gather for St. Matthias event

Those who attended the St. Matthias Episcopal Church’s 10th annual Oyster Roast on Saturday at the Flowers’ Tomato Shed outside Summerton were treated to live music, a bonfire and delectable food.

But most importantly, they were given the opportunity to support the church’s Montessori pre-school.

“First and foremost, this is for a great cause, and we just want to get everyone together and have a good time,” said Father David Thurlow, pastor at St. Matthias. “We have just under two tons of oysters this year, and even for those who don’t prefer oysters, we have some barbecue and some catfish stew. We have a live bluegrass band, and it’s just a really fun time.”
