On Apr. 24, the Town of Summerton announced the opening of the new Dollar General (DG) Market on Church Street.
The new DG store is just down the road from the current, standard store and fills a void in Summerton, offering fresh produce and meats. The opening of the market brings accessible shopping options to residents of Summerton and surrounding areas.
“Great day in Summerton! This has been needed for ten years. A place where those that don’t have the means or resources to go to neighboring towns to get the necessities such as fruits, veggies, and meats,” exclaimed Summerton Mayor Mac Bagnal, expressing his enthusiasm for the arrival of the Dollar General Market and its impact on the local community.
Bagnal, reflecting on the journey to bring the market to fruition, added, “I can remember during my previous term getting the call from the investors wanting to put a DG Market in town. We helped him find the location, working with realtors to make it all come together. And now, two years later we are here. Thanks to Dollar General and all the folks that helped make this possible.”
